    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    1. What is Carrot Fertility?

Carrot is a global fertility and family-building platform that partners with employers, health plans, and healthcare systems to provide benefits for individuals and families. Their services support people across the reproductive journey—from fertility and pregnancy through postpartum and parenting.

Many employees receive financial coverage for doula support through their employer’s Carrot benefit.

    2. Can Newmom.me doulas work with Carrot members?

    Yes.

Carrot recognizes certifications from approved organizations, and Newmom.me Academy certificates are accepted within their certification pathway when doulas apply. This means graduates of our programs may qualify to apply to the Carrot doula directory if they meet the additional criteria.

There are other training organizations which are also accepted. Please check with them about their approval status.

    3. How does a doula apply to join Carrot?

Carrot currently accepts applications only when a member requests a specific doula.

Here is how the process works:

    1. A Carrot member who has doula benefits identifies the doula they want to work with.
    2. The member enters the doula’s name and email into a request form inside their Carrot account.
    3. Once submitted, Carrot sends the doula an application within about 2 business days.

Carrot prioritizes applications for doulas that members specifically want to work with.

    4. Can I apply directly without a member request?

    At this time, no.

Carrot’s current process requires a member request before an application is sent. Their team is working on improving this process in the future, but there is no timeline yet.

    5. What qualifications does Carrot require from doulas?

Carrot reviews several areas when evaluating applicants.

Doulas must meet one of the following training pathways:

Medicaid enrollment as a doula in states where Medicaid covers doula care
    OR
Active certification from an approved organization (Newmom.me Academy certificates are recognized)
    OR
Training certificate + at least 3 years of doula experience

    Additional requirements include:

Individual professional liability insurance with at least $1M coverage
Active CPR/BLS certification (AHA, Red Cross, or HSI)
    • Professional references
    • Proof of a business payment method
    • Sample client contracts
    • Average service rates (birth package or postpartum hourly rates)

    6. What should doulas do now if they want Carrot clients?

    A few practical steps:

✔ Let potential clients know you are open to Carrot-covered doula support
✔ Ask Carrot members to request you through their Carrot account
✔ Prepare your documentation (insurance, CPR certification, contracts, etc.)
✔ Keep your certificate and training documents ready

When a client submits your name, Carrot will send you the application.
