Let your medical provider come to you: As a midwife, I hold a medical degree and have similar medical privileges as doctors including the license to diagnose and prescribe medication. I can offer hour-long appointments during which you can share your concerns — both big and small.
Postpartum Preparation Consultation:
This is a one-time consultation provided directly to the birth parent and partner during which I listen to their thoughts and concerns and provide tailored guidance. We will discuss everything from
- What to expect in the first 72 hours postpartum
- The importance of early milk expression, hand expression, engorgement
- Perineal healing
- Post birth pains and cramps (especially relevant for 2nd and 3rd time moms)
- Postpartum mood changes
- Establishing a good milk supply
- Bottles and pacifiers
- Baby-wearing
- What gear to have ready, and more!
- Clients will also receive a list of tailored resources to have on-hand.
Home-based postpartum visits: It can be so hard to leave the home with a newborn in tow, which is why my goal is to bring the care directly to the home, where issues can be addressed early on. This option is for people who have an isolated issue (e.g., a developing red spot on the breast, worsening postpartum mood challenges, etc) and would like a medical consult. These visits include
- Necessary labs and medical prescriptions
- A complimentary phone consultation beforehand to make sure the issue at hand is appropriate for home-based care
Standard Postpartum Package (concludes around week 6 postpartum): This package includes
- A prenatal intake session
- A second prenatal visit to prepare for the postpartum period
- Up to 8 home visits postpartum
- Issues addressed include, but not limited to: Postpartum recovery, perineal healing, lactation, pelvic floor, postpartum mood changes, nutrition, baby-wearing, reproductive plans
- Labs, medications, and referrals to specialists provided as needed
Mini Postpartum Package (concludes around week 3 postpartum): This package includes
- A prenatal intake session
- A second prenatal visit to prepare for the postpartum period
- Up to 4 home visits postpartum
- Issues addressed include, but not limited to: Postpartum recovery, perineal healing, lactation, pelvic floor, postpartum mood changes, nutrition, baby-wearing, reproductive plans. Labs, medications, and referrals to specialists provided as needed.
